The Hirsel Cente for Art and Craft
The Hirsel Centre for Art and Craft
There are two units available to let to any creative industries at The Hirsel Homestead Centre for Art and Crafts in Coldstream. These two first floor units are approximately 11 sqm each, self contained but with shared front door, stairs and landing space. There is plenty of natural light from south facing windows and both units have single phase power, storage heaters and the option of an open fire.
Rents include electricity and are to be negotiated with the Hirsel Estate factor, but are reasonably priced.
The Hirsel Homestead has a reputation for high quality hand crafted art and crafts and you would be joining four other units which include a pottery, textile home accessories, glass designer, and home and fashion gifts. There is also a gallery on site where a resident photographer and fine artist have a rolling schedule of exhibitions with invited artists and makers.
The Craft centre is set at the heart of the Hirsel Estate on the edge of Coldstream. The Homestead also has a tearoom, museum of country life, photographic exhibition, and children’s playground. There is a picnic area adjacent to the Centre and the estate itself has river and woodlands walks and is popular with bird watchers and walkers.
The Estate grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk but unit holders are not tied to specific opening hours. The Homestead Centre does attract local visitors and tourists and seasonal trade, but units are not suitable solely for retail purposes. If you didn’t want to be open to the public at all either of these two units could be easily closed off.
Diversity is encouraged so please bear in mind current residents when applying as doubling up on a discipline would benefit neither party.
