Sensing Place Workshops

Room 205, Tower Mill, Heart of Hawick

Come and be part of Sensing Place - a new arts project bringing together archive film and storytelling to explore the stories of the Borders.  Participants will take an active part in three hands-on workshops led by three Scottish artists: a filmmaker, a storyteller and a film curator.  The workshop activity will culminate in the creation of a live community screening event taking place in the Borders in October 2016. Sensing Place is funded by Creative Scotland and the BFI's Britain on Film programme, and led by creative producers Andrew Ormston and Shona Thomson in collaboration with local partners CABN and Alchemy Film and Arts.

Participants are asked to attend all three workshops taking place at Tower Mill, Heart of Hawick on:

  • 10.30am – 2.00pm, Wednesday 28th September
  • 1.00pm – 4.00pm, Friday 7th October - CANCELLED
  • 10.30am – 2.00pm, Monday 10th October

Please bring a packed lunch.  Tea/coffee refreshments will be provided.

For the first workshop, please bring along an item meaningful to you, relating to your place, to share with the group.  This could be a photograph, written material or a memory, story or song.  In the workshop, there will be stories, archive film clips and discussion about your place, your memories and hopes, past, present and future relating to the Borders.  All contributions most welcome!
