Shared Apprenticeships - an Opportunity for Craft Businesses in the Scottish Borders

Applied Arts Scotland (AAS) has been exploring the practical aspects of apprenticeships for a number of years and following a maker survey undertaken in 2014, they have been actively pursuing the delivery of shared apprenticeships as a more realistic option for many makers. AAS is a charity which supports the professional development of makers who live and work in Scotland,

For the last 6 months AAS have been running a shared apprenticeship in Edinburgh and are now looking to deliver a shared apprenticeship in the Borders as part of a Scottish wide pilot programme of 6 in a diverse range of urban and rural locations.  They are working closely with CABN and Tomorrows People as project partners.  AAS see this project as opportunity not just to nurture and retain talented young people in the area, but also to support craft businesses to grow capacity in both making and business skills.

At this stage we are looking for expressions of interest from makers who are keen to grow the capacity of their business, be that in production or business development, and are keen to work with a young person to make that happen.

To register interest, please complete this short Survey https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/JM78BQZ.  Please note that registering an interest is not a commitment to take part at this stage.

The deadline to register interest is Monday 19th September 2016.
