Intellectual Property

Project Date: 22 October 2015 & 7 November 2016 –

‘Do you have an invention, idea, creation or trade secret you want to protect? Join us for an introduction to patents, trademarks and copyright and discover some practical steps for protecting your Intellectual Property.’

During Business Gateway‘s annual Business Weeks in 2015 and 2016, CABN invited Philip Hannay, Managing Director of Cloch Solicitors, to deliver sessions on Intellectual Property for creatives.  The well attended events were organised by Giles Etherington, CABN’s Advocate for Business to Business Creative Services and were open to all creatives who wanted to learn more about protecting their Intellectual Property.

Intellectual Property (IP) is one of the greatest ‘known unknowns’ for businesses. The Oxford English Dictionary defines ‘Intellectual property’ as “intangible property that is the result of creativity”.  The event in 2015 was subtitled ‘Copyright and Trademarking for Creative Businesses’ and in 2016 ‘A Practical Guide to Protecting Your Creativity’.
