June Gathering of the Scottish Borders Cultural Forum
4.30pm – 6.00pm, Friday 30th June 2017
(with the option to stay on for Magnetic North’s Rough Mix Sharing at 6.00pm)
Eastgate Theatre, Peebles
The Scottish Borders Cultural Forum supports the work of the local cultural sector by creating a space for networking, sharing concerns, ideas and resources and finding solutions to common problems. It comes together informally on a monthly basis in different locations and provides a social get together, a discussion, and a lively cultural experience.
The June Gathering of the Scottish Borders Cultural Forum will take place at the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles and will tie in with their hosting of the Magnetic North Rough Mix Residency 2017. Magnetic North is an award-winning theatre company based in Edinburgh. Working with actors, playwrights, designers, composers and other artists, and through an integrated programme of creative research & development, artist support and production, they have created a distinctive body of cross-artform performance work that is stylish, articulate and individual. They enable and facilitate creative development for artists through their Rough Mix and Space/Time residencies which give an opportunity for theatre makers to collaborate with other practitioners, try out new ideas and introduce them to an audience. The current Rough Mix residents will be heading to the Eastgate Theatre for two weeks in June to challenge themselves, thrash out inspirations, share their passions and work together on some brand new ideas. The sharing is the culmination of the creative residency and your opportunity to discover the artists’ ideas and processes and see their work in progress.
Nicholas Bone, founder of Magnetic North will talk about the company and its Rough Mix residency. Also giving a short talk at the gathering will be Anna Hodgart, Artist Development Producer for the National Theatre of Scotland and Becki Hodgson of Borders Live Touring who will give an update on Borders Live Touring and talk about the Young Promoters Scheme and Dance Academy.
If anyone has any particular topics or items they would like to bring to the discussion at the June Gathering, please email them to Kay McCluskey at the address below .
A light buffet and teas and coffees will be available at the start of the gathering. Please confirm when booking if you have any special dietary requirements.
Tickets for the sharing are free but must be booked in advance. Please reserve your place by contacting the Eastgate Box office on 01721 725 777 and quoting that you are going to the gathering of the Scottish Borders Cultural Forum. Numbers are limited so you must ensure that you book.
To attend the June Gathering please RSVP by emailing Kay.McCluskey@liveborders1.org.uk No later than 9.00am on Monday 26th June 2017.

Delegate List
Attendees at previous gatherings have found the delegate list useful in terms of following up on conversations with specific people or organisations enabling the exchange of information and contacts.
We will be putting together a delegate list (which will include your email address) for this Gathering so please let us know if you DO NOT wish to be included. It would be useful when booking if you could indicate which job title and business/organisation name you would like us to include.
Remember you can engage with the Scottish Borders Cultural Forum via their Facebook page.
