New CABN Advocate for Public Art & Community Engagement | Welcome to Lara Greene
The CABN Team is delighted to announce the appointment of the new Advocate for Public Art & Community Engagement.
Lara Greene is an artist based in Selkirk. She has a background in sculpture and public art, as well as freelance educational work. Currently she is focussed on community engaged projects and events locally.
Soon after graduation in Fine Art, Lara decided that her art was not going to be confined only to gallery walls as this felt somewhat exclusive. She set about creating art and arts events which were more accessible for all without lessening the artistic value. From this she branched into public art and worked as part of a team in the USA creating large scale robotic art installation/performances internationally.
Her main medium is metal but Lara has a wide ranging knowledge of many materials and processes including casting, woodwork, painting, sewing and mechanical/kinetic art. She has specialist knowledge in the field of public art with regard to its commissioning process, funding, pre-planning, fabrication, installation and technical details.
Lara looks forward to supporting other artists in her Advocate role and welcomes any contact. She will use the role to help further the impact of art and creativity for all in the Scottish Borders.
