RISE | Arts & Wellbeing Network Meeting 03
Date & Time: Wednesday 4 December 3.30-5pm
Venue: Lesser Hall, MacArts, Bridge Street, Galashiels, TD1 1SP
We had such a lively and productive network meeting on the 9th October, where we discussed some initial ideas for projects and activities for next year’s Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, that it seemed a good idea to have another planning meeting to develop some of those ideas further.
We would like to invite anyone interested in contributing to the planning in any way – including as an individual/partner/funder/venue – to this next meeting on the 4 December. That includes anyone who was unable to make it to the last meeting and is keen to input and find out more about the network.
The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF) takes place over three weeks from 4-24 May and this year was the first time there was a programme of events in the Scottish Borders. We would like to plan towards an exciting programme for next year’s SMHAF, which has Perspectives as a theme.
If you would like to attend, please book here (or email steph.mackenzie@borders.nhs.scot.uk if you have any problems using Eventbrite).
At this meeting we will develop some of the ideas generated at the last workshop and also focus on more detailed planning a ‘music for wellbeing’ themed symposium event. We welcome anyone who is interested in working towards a vibrant programme for SMHAF 2020, or who is interested in making links with others around arts and wellbeing work.
The RISE Arts and Wellbeing Network is an informal network which arose from a major symposium held in 2018 and exists to enable and support:
• An Informal network to facilitate working together
• A social movement – joining up and creating opportunities for the arts to contribute to positive health and wellbeing at an individual and a community level
• A role to stimulate and engage – to create an environment where we generate and support activity related to arts and wellbeing – not to commission or control
• The core belief that we can make a difference to people’s lives and their wellbeing through the arts and creativity
