This new group brings together South East of Scotland Printmakers, Bookbinders, Letter Press & artist book makers together to share skills and training, develop a social group and discuss how local regional facilities for printmaking could be developed as a grassroots community group or cooperative. The group is in the early stages of development and welcomes all makers to come along and meet, there is also opportunity to share work and develop ideas for exhibiting together. 1. Exhibition Planning – updates on various spaces discussed previously, update about CABN funding to support an exhibition, discuss ideas for others.

Discuss the potential opportunities for applying to Borders Arts Fair in 2025.

Summary of Notes from previous Meeting #3

Present: Jon, Rosemary, Felicity, Ali, Jules, Helen and Sylvia

– Introductions made. FB will make a broader Doodle Poll for the next meeting in 2024, to allow others to join that can’t make a Monday.

Exhibition Planning & updates – discussed potential locations, events and spaces the group could present an exhibition of print and book works including;

Borders Art Fair (possible apply for a stand for 2025)

Borders Book Festival (locate a venue for the duration of the festival which runs 13-16 June 2024) – Felicity and Helen to find out about the potential use of the potting shed space in Priorwood gardens/ contact Paula Ogilvie of BBF.

Trimontium (Jon volunteered to ask about space availability). Felicity shared the Live Borders Expressions of Interest form for local venues but it was not supported to take forward a proposal.

Updates:

Jon gave a brief update about the Gala Art Hub, it will be available to hire in central Galashiels – @£75/ day. Also mentioned contact with a writer, Mary Craig who is interested in writing workshops in the space.

Rosemary flagged up the Printmakers of Scotland membership https://www.printmakersofscotland.com/ and Printfest Ulverston – https://printfest.uk/

There is also the Society of Bookbinders Conference, Ludlow Book Fair etc https://www.hewit.com/links/dates/

– All discussed potential for sharing skills (internal within the group as well as workshops), discussions to continue about setting up a Facebook or Instgram account, group email etc.

– All to brainstorm a name for the group/ collective ralting to Book and Print in the South East of Scotland.
