CABN (Creative Arts Business Network) supports, connects, and champions artists, makers, creative practitioners, and cultural organisations across across the Scottish Borders. We strengthen the region’s creative community through sector development, peer support, skills sharing, and opportunities for networking and collaboration.
Our vision is a thriving, confident, and connected creative community where artists and cultural workers can build sustainable careers, contribute to local wellbeing, and shape the region’s cultural identity.
Initially established as part of Live Borders, and currently incubated by the Southern Uplands Partnership, CABN is now entering an important phase as we establish as an independent charity and explore the most appropriate legal structure for our future. we are working towards making an application for charitable status in May/June 2026.
We are now recruiting people who will become volunteer trustees, who can help guide CABN through this transition and shape the next chapter of our development.
As a trustee, you will:
•     Contribute to the strategic direction of a respected regional arts organisation
•     Support a small, dedicated team working to improve conditions for artists and creative practitioners
•     Help shape sector development, advocacy, and partnership work across the Borders
•     Bring your lived experience, professional insight, and values to a collaborative board
•     Gain experience in governance, leadership, and cultural strategy
•     Play a meaningful role in establishing CABN’s governance once agreed by the membership and oversee the transition to independence from the Southern Uplands Partnership
You do not need previous board experience.
We welcome trustees at all stages of their governance journey and will support you with induction, mentoring, and accessible documentation.
